This is not even a book. It is not basic. It is sub-basic. The only battery covered is lead/acid. Regret the 99 cent l paid. Not worth it.
Fortunately I was married to an engineer for 31 years. My eyes did start glazing over quickly. This book did show me a bit more about shopping for the components needed to start a small solar system for my fans in the barn. I really would rather have diagrams of components for a small, medium, large systems to get me started than all the technical dialogue.
As the title suggests: Basic information was given. That leaves you wanting to know more, for example: type of solar panels, makes of charger controller etc... Internet search COULD answer many of my unanswered questions. But this .99$ Kindle book gives me enough confidence to start a small project: a 50-watt panel-system enough to maintain couple of batteries for emergency lights and for cell phone recharging.I would recommend buying this book as a first approach to setting your own system.
Easy to read, very clear information about solar components and their relationship to one another. There is a chart showing wire sizes that I do not think is accurate. I know that a 10 gauge wire is rated for 30 A, and this chart shows much less current. That may be because it is for DC power.
I found this book to be very informative. Great overview and at least now I have an idea of what I am looking at. Thank you Steven for taking the time to put this together for those of us that are new to solar energy!
I don't understand the eBook page numbering. It appears to go to about 268 pages but each page skips about 10 or more. Makes it appear is going to be an in-depth book when it's really pretty short. Still it gave me some things to think about that I hadn't thought of.
Information was clear and easy to follow. Great basic guide to get started on.Diagrams are informative, which I always like more of.
Having read one book on this topic already I would like to see in one of the basic books where they went to get the supplies to build one or web sites. This is a great book for starting out and he offers good and sound advice. If you are new to the topic then I strongly recommend this book if You are not then you may want to buy another book.
