The best book on life drawing ever published was my teachers comment. The only thing that is less than ideal is the price, but second hand was fine for me. I agree with my teachers assessment as I peruse this wonderful book. Illustrated with famous works and well written it is inspiring and full of useful information. Glad I bought it. It's a keeper.
This is a great resource. I am comparing it to a few other drawing books that I own. This book is rated *5 because it is dense with information and easy to navigate and find what you need quickly. This book was not only written, but it was built and engineered as a quick reference tool to be used on the fly while drawing the human form. That is my opinion.It was required for an art class art 1030 life drawing. I paid the school $229 for this book.... I walked out of the bookstore and got on my smart phone and ordered it off amazon and saved $190.00 THANK YOU AMAZON!
This book is for people who has no problem understanding human anatomy. If you are a rookie, i suggest you to search for another book, but if you want to learn from the masters, this book is the perfect choice for you. Its challenging and hard to digest, but exceptionally powerful in its content. you learn about cross contour, detail lines, bones, articulations, anatomical movements, drawing styles, proportions, hands, feets, head, relationship between each part of your body and so much more. I would recommend to use a real live model in order to get the most of the most from this book.
I bought this book for a class I was taking and I ended up keeping it for myself once I finished the class. It is filled with information and instruction. I love this book and I very rarely keep book I buy for classes and this is one of the few I kept because I know I will use it many more times in the future. It works well for references and how to stuff.

Very well written, the text includes many well-chosen quotes from various aartists. Overall, the reading is interesting and useful for understanding and apprecaiting figure drawing. Much better than most drawing books. The included illistrations are also very well chosen.
Excellent illustrations. I wish I had bought and kept this book instead of renting.
I really like this book, even if it was required for my college drawing course.The only thing I think that would improve it would be larger images with the anatomy illustrations.
